As with any profession, the right equipment can mean a job well done, or not. In the case of welders, the right welding equipment is extremely important. Not only to complete a job, but for safety reasons as well.

One of the first things anyone interested in purchasing welding equipment should know is that there are various welding processes. The type of welding you want to do will dictate the welding equipment need.

Here we’ll take a look at some of the welding equipment needed in gas welding.

Gas Welder: Equipment Needed

Propane Torch: Helps to start fires, heat frozen parts like bolts, and sweat pipes.

Oxyacetylene Torch: This is perhaps the most widely used and valuable piece of welding equipment. It is handy for slicing through everything from sheet metal to a tank turret. It can even do double duty as a flame thrower if you find yourself in a bind.

Oxy-propane Torch: This is a low-cost concession between cheap, portable propane and low cost and oxyacetylene portable propane. If you’re in a pinch when buying gas welding equipment, this can come in handy.

Cutting Nozzles: The function of this piece of welding equipment is to endure smooth gas flow.

Welding and Heating Heads: This piece of welding equipment comes in many different sizes. It allows you to control the output of the flame, eg, how long or short it is and how it’s applied.

Gas Control: In this category are regulators, flow meters and valves. All offer safe, efficient gas control across all applications – everything from light to heavy duty maintenance and repair/production.

Safety Accessories: When purchasing welding equipment, don’t forget your safety accessories. Welding is a dangerous profession and safety equipment can literally save your life.

Welding caps protective shop coats, welding and cutting gloves, gauge guards, tig pens and leather shoe spats are all basic safety welding equipment to start with.
